FIM 2010 R2 Exchange Provisioning and MailNickName

Hi,

I've configured FIM to provision users to AD and create their mailboxes. I've set 'initial flow only' on the following Exchange attributes:

msExchHomeServerName
msExchRBACPolicyLink
msExchHomeMDB
mailNickName

The query I have is with the mailNickName (Exchange Alias), for the initial flow I've set it to the SamAccountName. Given that the SAM can change when someone changes name, I've tried unticking the initial flow only and running a sync task, but this fails every time with a AD provisioning error in the sync service.

If I set mailNickName for initial flow only, it works fine and mailboxes are created as normal.

Is there a way I can get the mailNickName to be changed in accordance with a my input data source (CSV file)?

I also have multiple Exchange databases, how can I get my provisioning rule to spread users around different DBs? Ideally I'd like the ability to randomly pick a DB or have a deterministic method (i.e. if first letter of email address is within range A to F use MBX database 1).

Sorry for asking multiple questions at once, but just doing some reading on this one – does FIM 2010 R2 offer any built in methods for automating run profiles? From what I’ve read, the only free ways are to schedule a custom script.

Thanks
